Pet dentistry

Next to vaccinations and nutrition, quality dental care is a key element in ensuring your pet’s longevity and quality of life.

In addition to being painful and leading to things like bad breath and loss of appetite, poor dental health greatly increases the chance your pet will experience heart or kidney disease.

At Animal Health Hospital we recommend at least one Dental Cleaning each year to prevent serious dental problems from developing. However should your pet need dental care or extractions we have the tools and the skills necessary to treat and to correct dental problems on-site.

Dental cleaning:

Your pet’s teeth are just like yours. Plaque buildup becomes tartar, which is not only unattractive, it’s an ideal location for harmful bacteria to grow.

At Animal Health Hospital we believe that good dental health is extremely important, so we encourage pet owners to bring their pets in at least once a year for a dental cleaning. This is another case of an ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure as serious health problems can occur if dental problems are neglected.

Dental Radiology:

Especially in cats, much dental pathology occurs below the gum line. Dental radiographs allow diagnosis of these problems and confirm diagnosis of dental abscesses and other problems as well.

Extractions:

When necessary we remove teeth. Dental abscess, tooth fractures and severe periodontal disease are all indications for extraction. We have the equipment and expertise to perform difficult extractions.

Preventative care:

At Animal Health Hospital, we believe that prevention is always better than treatment, so we offer a complete line of preventative dental servicesincluding routine cleaning and tooth brushing.

We also offer the new Porphyromonas vaccine, and we will always recommend the appropriate method and level of preventative dental care for your pet.
